Vintage Schwinn American Coppertone Men's 26 (May 1964) RESTORED & UPGRADED

  

Vintage Schwinn American Coppertone Men's 26 manufactured May 1964. Handle bars changed to butterfly.

However, the major upgrade was going from standard at the time on Schwinn's 18 rear and 48 front sprockets to 22 rear & 52 front, same as Black Phantom. Therefore rear wheel hub changed to a New Departure Model D. On the model D placed a 22 tooth sprocket then changed front sprocket to 52 requiring the larger chain guard. Seat, tank and rear carrier is same as on Black Phantom with the latter featuring the light at the rear. Pedals are vintage Persons majestic teardrop.

Tires are 26 x 2 x 1-3/4 whitewalls.
