There are lots of photos and the description is lengthy.. If you have questions I will try to answer as best I can, thanks! I hate to say 100% original...
However, this is about as close as you get to an `all original, survivor` bike... Frame dated CM (March 1976).I don`t find a date on the fork but every other part on this bike that has a date is dated 1976... Crank, stem, bars, front and rear fenders and both pedals are all stamped 76.
Original factory white paint is in good condition but has a bunch of touch ups. I tried to show a close-up but it doesn't show that well. The touch ups are a bit more off white than the paint and could no doubt be done better but I`m not messing with it. All the decals/screens are in pretty nice condition also.Chrome is not absolutely perfect but as you can see, it`s super nice! Bars and sissy have very minor scrapes on top.
Nice, original, blue "Chicago" headbadge. Rims are 28 spoke Schwinn and both `lightly` side stamped.
S-2 rear "Schwinn Tubular S-2" and front "Schwinn Tubular S-7". Part of the Schwinn on each is hard to see. Nice chrome with no major issues and original spokes. Rear hub is Bendix 76 coaster brake. Tire is an original Made in U." Schwinn 20" x 2.125" "Studded dated 2-6 (February 1976) and has some sidewall cracking but holds air fine. Front hub is "Schwinn Approved". " Schwinn 20" x 1 3/4" "Westwind dated 3-6 (March 1976) and has some sidewall cracking but holds air fine.
Both fenders look excellent (with minor, hard to see flaws) and are the original rolled safety edge style. Seat is (optional factory accessory) original "Persons" in nice condition with no cuts, rips or tears. It is not perfect however, show some wear, has some light stains and looks like something had spilled over it and made some of the colors run.. Rear tag is nice as are the Q bolts. Chrome post is original and has the cadmium "S" stamped clamp.
Clean, full size, red grips are original and near perfect. Pedals are both stamped 76 and are the large diamond with reflectors. The Schwinn logos look awesome and the pedals spin nicely. Has all the correct, original reflectors. Kickstand looks to have been restored. Comes with original 1976 Schwinn Sting-Ray owners manual, Schwinn 1976 `full line` brochure and USA Flag caps as pictured.Everything works smoothly and the rims run straight... Will need to be cleaned and adjusted upon arrival but a very nice 42 year old bike.
