Vintage 1971 Dated Schwinn Krate Banana Seat Muscle Bike Disc Brake Wheel

  

A used 1972 Schwinn Krate Disc Brake Wheel with original raised white letter tire. This is an early Schwinn Krate Disc Brake wheel, with a 71 dated caliper and a 2 72 dated hub. The rim is a double knurled 1972 S-2 rim. If you have the 4 71 dated hub and single knurl S-2 rim you could make yourself a nice wheel for a December 1971 Grey Ghost.

The wheel does have some rust and will have some peppering on it and some deeper rust areas on the rim after it is cleaned. Also, the left side of the caliper looks to have some heavier rust areas and may have some deeper pitting when cleaned (the side with the hanger bolt head in the pictures). I lightly cleaned a few areas on the brake and rim to show what it would look like cleaned. The tire is an original Schwinn Krate raised white letter tire, but it has cracking along the outside edge. I think the tire will only be good for display and wouldn't be able to be ridden on.

I can send the date code on the tire if you would like it, I believe it is late 1971, early 1972. Perfect for a 6-7 condition original bike or you can clean, chrome, and detail it for your best restoration.
