Vintage 1960s Schwinn'American' 26 bicycle (original needs restoration)

  

Vintage Schwinn'American' 26 bicycle (needs restoration). Frame is straight and solid and the parts seem to be mostly original (the original tires were replaced at some point).

The chaingaurd does have some dents towards the front end (see pics). The rims don't look like Schwinn rims to me but the brake extension arm says Bendix and is likely either original or from the same time period (some of the spokes are loose and should be tightened).

The original'burnt sienna' red paint has faded and there are various rust spots throughout the frame (see pics). The front head lamp is missing but the handlebar attachment piece is still there (see pics). The chrome fenders are pretty rusty and dented (see pics) and will need serious restoration there is a sticker on the front fender end that still faintly reads "American made" (see pic). The vinyl seat is pretty rough but still seems usable/restorable.

The chrome pieces are also pretty rusty (handlebar, sprocket, fenders, and seat post). The Schwinn handlebar grips and pedals are intact.

Louis, Quad Cities, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, or Missouri. Bike has been stored in a barn since 2012. The bike originally came from Columbia.
