I bought this bike about 20 years ago in Santa Barbara, CA. It took me 5 years to bring it back to original condition. I did some minor touch-up painting here and there, but left it pretty much as original. Everything is in good working order.
The Triple-Speed is very RARE and works great! I have always kept this bike in good riding condition. I ride it occasionally to the beach and parks. People always gather around with questions/comments and take photos. Everyone loves the original condition; great conversation piece! The bike has surface rust overall, but nothing is rotted, its all solid. If you wanted to restore a vintage Schwinn bike, this would be a good one. But why destroy all the fabulous patina? People love it as is!
I have owned a few other vintage Schwinns, but I'm no expert. However I do have a lot of knowledge about them. As far as I know, this bike is complete with nothing missing. Most of the parts are correct and in original condition, with these exceptions. Seat and seat post are reproduction 2.Rack reflector is reproduction 3. Fender reflector is reproduction 4. Headlight lens is reproduction 5. Tires of course are reproduction 6. Spokes are nice heavy gauge stainless.
Re-laced a few years ago. Fender light housing was corroded through in one spot, so I bondoed it, it looks clean. Light battery tray is reproduction 9. Handlebars are original "Torrington" bars. I bought the rear fender in NOS unpainted condition, so I had to paint that.
