Schwinn Stingray Gripper Slik Tire, 16×2.125, For S2 Rim, Original Vintage

This is a vintage Schwinn Stingray Gripper Slik tire, Made In USA. 16×2.125, from the 1960s. This tire is made to fit a 16 inch Schwinn S2 rim. It is a tire likely produced in 1968 by Carlisle, for Schwinn. The date code is a bit hard to read, but the 1968 Schwinn Run A Bout is the bike that this tire was truly made for.

This one looks to possibly have been mounted, but if so, very little riding because the tire is still in excellent condition. There is only one area of the sidewall that has a slight crack and if you look at the pictures, it only extends from where my thumb is to my forefinger.

The rubber is still very plyable and this would make an excellent tire for a restoration and/or a rider. These are very tough to find, almost 60 years later, in this condition.

There are also some area that would be close to the rim, that have a bit of tearing, but shouldn't affect the fit or the ride. See the pictures and judge the condition for yourself.
