Very unusual to find a 1980's black chrome bike in this condition. Frame Material - Fillet brazed chrome moly head tube joints, triple-butted main tubes with ovalized seat tube, Chrome-molly stays forged double eyelet dropouts, cast seat lug. Fork - Chrome-Moly, ovalized fork blades. Derailleurs/Shifters - New SunTour XCD-6000, Accushift.
Brakes - Dia-Compe 983E front cantilever, advantage 990 mounted under chainstay with oversized cables, dia-compe 284II mini-power levers. Handlebars - Tampered Aluminum, flat with 16° bend, anodized black, 24 (610mm) Wide. Stem - Schwinn Team Issue, chrome moly, internal cable guide 5 1/8 (130mm) extension, painted to match.Wheels - Weinmann 522X, Concave with lightweight 32H front wheel. Colors - Black Chrome, bold Yellow - clear coat over decals.
The original posted changed out the seat and post for a 1990's suspension post and a cushion seat. I found a correct vintage post and seat.
Their condition does not match the almost NOS condition of the rest of the bike. Other than that, all of the other parts are stock and exceptional. Check out the original date coded Dia compe brake cables, the remaining nubs on the Schwinn tires and the other details. The finish on the frame is exceptionally nice, considering how delicate the thin translucent coating of black over the chrome is. As you would expect, the wheels are true, the brakes and derailleurs are in excellent functional and cosmetic condition.
