I have here a 1967 26 Schwinn Typhoon in my favorite color COPPERTONE. The bike was pretty neglected when I got it. It was disassembled down to the bare frame and totally gone through.Crank, head set, and front hub bearings were cleaned and packed with PARK TOOLS bearing grease. New 26x2x1 3/4 inch white wall tires along with new tubes mounted on the original Schwinn Tubular S-7 rims. They have been trued and spin great.
The rear hub is a standard Bendix red band single speed. Replaced with the cloth rim tape.
I like using the tape over the rubber bands. Like many coppertone bikes from this era the Schwinn. Script on the top tube, and chainguard as well as the darts on the forks were pretty faded.
I bought new water slide decals for the. Chainguard and darts for the forks. There are Schwinn script decals for the top tube online, but I thought I would leave those off.The Schwinn approved chubby hand grips are in excellent shape which are not original to the bike but I wanted some nice ones so there you are. Could probably sell those on there own for a pretty penny but I'm not into parting perfectly good bikes out. This bike is obviously not new, or even mint. But, for 53 years old its a nice looking rider that I have rode around the neighborhood in the park etc.
And have had plenty of compliments on it. The serial number is DC30425 which was manufactured April'67. Too many bikes, a few have to go.
