Barn Find Schwinn Runabout Vintage Bicycle

  
The history of this Schwinn Runabout.. My grandfather bought this new and was used as a travel bike on his adventures. Right around 1979 or so health reasons forced him to pack this bike away. It sat in the back of his garage until somewhere in the early nineties. I came across it and thought it was neat and he gave it to me. I was living across the country at the time so I had no way to access it.

My grandfather took it to a local bike shop where they took off the original tires (to save them)and tuned the sturmey archer 3 speed, regreased the hubs and put modern tires on it. Then it was put back into storage to wait for me to get it. I forgot about until my grandfathers passing in 2003 where I finally took possession of the bike.

It has since then been living it's life in my attic. My grandfather took great care of all his things and this bicycle was no different. This is an all original Runabout.

No new old stock built up bike you see all the time on these old Schwinns. The bike is in great condition for its age and will need to be cleaned and tuned up but it is an awesome example. No tears in the seat at all, great condition.

I choose not to clean it because I didn't want to affect the paint or chrome in any way. Bike includes complete bike, oringinal tires and fenders.
