A real "barn find" of a highly sought after bike. This 1976 Schwinn Superior is completely original other than a 80's replacement saddle (and possibly the pedals) These bikes are very collectible due to the high quality and hand craftsmanship of the frames. The Superior model was built by hand in a separate area of the Chicago factory called the "handbuild" shop for custom assembly.
The Frame is a brass fillet-brazed of SAE 4130 chrome molybdenum straight-gauge seamless tubing. The Serial Number on the frame is: GJ806080 and the production number on the badge is 3566. This indicates that the frame was built in Feb 1973 and the bike was assembled in Dec 1976. It may have been technically considered a 1977 model due to its color, but I'm going by the frame and badge numbers to date it.There is no rust on this frame, and only the tiniest amount of surface rust on some of the accessories. These bikes don't come along often.
