How do you offer so many nice refurbished bike for such low prices? I run a small, home-based vintage bicycle restoration shop out of my house in the North Suburbs of Chicago, IL. A home-based shop means low overhead, no storefront to pay for and no payroll. I have over 20 years experience fixing and restoring vintage road bikes and this is my passion. I'm very selective when I choose bikes to restore for resale.

Only solid, high-quality bikes (good restoration candidates) make it through my shop. You will be impressed with the attention to detail that goes into every bike I offer for sale.

Immaculate first year Super Le Tour 12.2 in a rare color! This is a first year model of the Schwinn Super Le Tour 12.2. Frame build date of June, 1976. The bike was acquired from the original owner and was only lightly used. Very rare factory "Flamboyant Red" finish. The bike is nearly 100% original with only age-worn and unusable wear/tear parts replaced: tires, inner tubes, cables, rubber brake lever hoods, handlebar tape. Original owner opted for the handlebar-end shifters ("Schwinn-Approved" made by Suntour) instead of the downtube shifters and slightly wider San Remo alloy handlebars - both welcome upgrades especially on a large frame bike for easy shifter access and rideability. Refurbishment work freshly completed on 11/5/20. It's practically in "time capsule" condition waiting for its next owner. Built in Japan for Schwinn by Panasonic, these bikes are known to have some of the highest build quality easily surpassing the US made models at the time. The earlier Super Le Tours like this one were designated "12.2" and have ornate lug joints and forged drop outs (something the did away with a few years later to cut costs).

Beautifully crafted double-butted 4130 chromoly steel frame. Despite the bike's large frame size, it weighs just 25.5 lbs as shown.

The Super Le Tour 12.2 bikes were marketed as ultra-lightweight! The bike has been inspected, detailed and tuned by a professional bike mechanic and is 100% solid. If you dreamed about owning one of these brand new 44 years ago! But couldn't quite afford one, this is your chance. Early Shimano 600 rear and 60 front derailleurs with "Schwinn Approved" handlebar-end (barcon) shifters.

Dia Compe "G" brake set with Japanese-made "Le Tour" branded alloy components crankset, alloy seat post, etc. Aluminum Araya wheel set with large flange/quick-release Shimano hubs. The Original Schwinn saddle is in great shape. The bike rides like a classic Cadillac, yet handles like it's on rails.

64cm / 25 (from the center of the crank to the top tube). 62cm (from the center of the crank to the top of the seat tube). 57.5cm (top tube center-to-center).

34.5 (top tube stand over height). Based on the above geometry, the bike would be ideal for cyclists 6'0 plus in height. The original paint is in immaculate condition only showing light abrasions and use marks from storage (carefully retouched with matching enamel for protection and aesthetics). The frame is 100% straight - NO rust, dents, bends or cracks.

This bike is tight, very fast, clean, wheels are true and is ready to hit the road. With the essential wear/tear components replaced, this bike is ready to ride anywhere. More pictures are available upon request.

Local pick-up is available and encouraged if you're within driving distance to the Chicago/Milwaukee areas. Some assembly and set up will be required upon arrival since we remove the wheels, handlebars, pedals. To ensure that the bike arrives to you safely.
