1949 SCHWINN CONTINENTAL SPORTS TOURIST VINTAGE MENS RACER BICYCLE PARAMOUNT 40S. The serial number is T001795 men's Schwinn Continental road touring bicycle with 26 wheels. I believe model CNM It is in the original and very appealing opalescent blue colored factory paint. If you like UNIQUE original bikes, this may be a great bike for you. If you like VERY VERY unique vintage Schwinn bicycles, you may enjoy this. You will have a difficult time EVER finding another one of these! With the insanely high price of gas (and the economy being bad) now is the time to ride a cool vintage bike! This bike has a cool mens cruiser style frame and forks with original paint and decals, I believe these are hand brazed Cro-moly? Cool "AS" brass head badge, original chainguard, newer cruiser style seat, wide cruiser handlebars, full fenders, (front has chrome braces, rear has nickel) cool 3-piece cranks, (I had a Schwinn Paramount from this era with cranks that looked like these) old bow pedals, super cool SCHWINN BUILT brake calipers, and more! I got this one just like you see it. Be your own judge of what is original. I have only seen a couple of these in my years in the old bicycle hobby. I have not seen another Continental from this era in a very long time!

I do have a couple lightweights from this era in my personal collection in super nice condition but is the extent of the bikes like this I have ever seen! THESE BIKES DO NOT COME UP! Few were made and few are out there! I hope someone gets this that will appreciate it!

Related bikes of the era are the early Schwinn Varsity, World, New World, Paramount, tandem etc They are cool and are hard to find! The tires are 26x1 3/8. They are vintage slighty newer replacement tires and do hold air. The bike has chrome rims front and rear.

The bike is an original SINGLE SPEED with coaster brakes. (pedal slightly backwards to stop the bike) Has cool Schwinn built hand brakes! (check out the cool rear hub) DIMENSIONS The stand over height is approx 30 3/4.

The distance from the floor to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 31. The distance from the center of the crank to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 21 3/4. The center of the handlebar stem to the center of the seat post is approx 22. The bike will accommodate most any rider comfortably. The seat height is easy to adjust.

NOTED FLAWS It is not 100% flawless but is not bad for its age! The paint looks respectable for a 65+ year old bike!

Paint has chips scratches etc but super happy it has survived and was not repainted The chrome is shiney but is not perfect show quality. Both wheels have a slight wobble when you spin them. (most every used bike out there seems to). This appears to be a fairly nice original unmolested bicycle unless otherwise noted.

A great bike to ride on relaxing days through the park or to the beach. Also would be a nice item to display in a shop, restaurant, rec room, sports bar, etc. Stand out from the crowd and be the envy of people who see you riding by. People will enjoy seeing you on your vintage bike!

A great classic bike at a great price Why not ride a bike? If you are looking for a fun bike to ride and enjoy this may be it! A nice bike to cruise the beach or your local park! It is never too soon to think ahead and get someone something they may really like!! These are getting to be hard to find in any condition and to my knowledge, have not been reproduced. PLEASE NOTE that many of the bikes I list have listed have been in long term storage and have not been regularly ridden in a while. (not a bad thing) They may need standard tuning, greasing, may have old tires, surface rust etc. I try to be as honest as possible and never want to disappoint anyone.
