Vintage Iver Johnson Chater Lea Racer Fixed Gear Track Bike. This 1927 Iver Johnson Chater Lea Special Racer is the Holly Grail of Iver Track Bicycles. Iver Johnson has a deep rich history in track racing, most notably known for the African American Racer Marshall Walter "Major" Taylor. Major Taylor had a dominant career in Track Racing and became the second Black Athlete, in any sport, to win a world title.

This Top of the Line Bike has Special Chrome-Mo-lib-den-um cold drawn seamless steel tubing an is adorned with Special Chatter Lea Hanger and Hubs. I restore a lot of bikes, and this this Bike Rivals the Quality of Schwinn Paramount Racer Bikes. This Iver Special Chatter Lea Racer is also called a Model 90B. She is an Exquisite Track Racer and a Piece of History, and with new glue on tubular tires she's Track Worthy This Iver has Beautiful Original Copper Bronze Paint and Pin Striping, Lux Low patina preserved, incredibly nice original paint.

The wheels are real nice Lobdell pointed racing profile wood rims laced to Chater Lea track racing fixed gear hubs. The Tires are Vintage 28" x 1" United States Special Racer tubulars, they hold a good shape but not air. The crank & bottom bracket are Chater Lea Racing parts.

The front end is traditional Iver Johnson racing parts. The pedals are Torrington Star racing pedals with cages. The Drive is Skiptooth with a Racing Block Chain. The Leather Saddle is a Brooks B-17. The Frame is a 21" Model which is a 54cm frame with a 31" stand over hight. She is completely rebuilt and patina restored, and the bike is believed to come from the one original owner. You can put her on a Pedestal Preserving History or Show up at the Track in Awe.
