This is a professionally reconditioned 1982 Schwinn Voyageur SP vintage touring road bike. Frame build date of March 1982. The rarest of the Voyageurs with the "SP" designation, this is a true sports tourer with top-end components specs.

Unlike the Voyageur 11.8 frames, the SP model features additional braze-on/eyelets on the seat stays and fork dropouts in addition to the higher-grade equipment. The bike is in well used, but very nice condition for its age. This one comes from the golden age of lugged steel bicycles. The Voyageur SP is highly regarded and often known as the "Japanese Paramount".

Hand assembled in Panasonic's Japanese factory, the construction quality of the 4130 chromoly frame and attention to the ornate details is top notch. Nice chrome fork ends and stays and Shimano Deore drivetrain component group with the original Takagi A/D forged alloy triple cranks. The bike was just professionally reconditioned by a mechanic who specializes in vintage road bikes - it's been refurbished to a high standard, tuned, detailed and ready to ride.

The frame has been polished out to a like-new luster, components removed and cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner and rebuilt for the reconditioning work. Over 12 hours of labor spent on getting the bike ready. CST Super HP gum wall tires (for period correct appearance).

Brake pads (front & rear). Perforated synthetic leather handlebar tape. Cane Creek (Dia Compe) replacement brake lever hoods.

Velo VL-1221 riveted synthetic leather saddle. Will include the old tires (heavily aged), wide gel saddle, chain, cable housings, brake pads and pedal cages for the purists. Original hardware including the Shimano Deore derailleurs (rear is a later model Deore), downtube shifters and Dia Compe "G" side pull brakes. Very lightweight and beautiful Takagi forged alloy Tourney A/D triple cranks.

Araya alloy wheels with quick release hubs. KKT Pro Vic II alloy pedals. Sakae forged alloy stem, Road Champion handlebars and LaPrade fluted seat post. Original three-piece aluminum rear rack that was unique to this model. The bike is lightweight and rock solid.

Rides like a Cadillac, it's fast, stops on a dime and handles like a dream. 64cm/25 (from the center of the crank to the top of the seat tube). 57.5cm (top tube center-to-center).

34.5 (top tube stand over height). Based on the above geometry, the bike would be ideal for taller cyclists 6'1" - 6'6" in height. The bike shows cosmetic wear with paint/decal lettering abrasions throughout (paint nicks were previously retouched for protection and aesthetics). Some very light pitting on the chromed stays and fork ends. Just the right amount of patina on this one showing its vintage.

A great example of a classic road bike that was loved and enjoyed over the years. This reconditioned bike is ready to hit the roads and will provide many years of riding pleasure.

A question that we're frequently asked. How are you able to offer so many reconditioned vintage bikes for such low prices? I run a small, home-based shop and don't have the overhead of retail bike shops. We don't have a storefront or regular "retail" hours which allows us to pass the savings on to you. As a passionate vintage road bike enthusiast of 15+ years, you will see careful and thoughtful attention to detail in the services and bicycles offered by us!

This one has been professionally serviced and is ready to go. This fully reconditioned bike is ready to hit the roads for decades to come. These higher-end, Japanese-made Schwinns are very sought after and will only continue to increase in value with proper care.

We reserve the right to end this listing at any time since the bicycle is also available for sale locally. Look for "RLB Cycleworks" on Google and Facebook for our location and our current inventory! To box a bike we take off the handlebars, pedals, front and rear wheel, seat post, rear derailleur, etc.. Please ask if you have any questions.
